Brass Making in Cotabato City

Just after we have witnessed the parade of colorful bancas tied together popularly known as the Guinakit Fluvial Parade during the Shariff Kabunsuan Festival last December 2011, I and other fellow Soccsksargen Bloggers headed to Brgy. MB Kalanganan, Cotabato City to have a glimpse of how a brassware like gongs, traditional Muslim jars, etc. are being crafted using traditional methods (meaning manually) by the oldest and the only remaining brassware makers in Cotabato City - the Mang Family.

Take a look at some of the produced brasswares being displayed in a small room at the house of the Mang Family.

Two large jars made from brass on display. According to them, a single brass jar as big as this  can take up to 3 months to complete.
