The hot and boiling Lake Agco in Kidapawan City

Last June 23, 2012, I was among the members of the SOCCSKSARGEN Bloggers who facilitated the Google Mapping activity in Kidapawan City. The event which was held at the office building of the Metro Kidapawan Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Inc. was a success, we've been able to impart (especially the speakers) to participants the basics and how to use Google Map Maker in putting Kidapawan City and other places in Cotabato province in Google Earth and Google Maps.

Before our trip to Kidapawan (less than 3 hours away from General Santos City), sir Avel who has arranged our trip already informed us that we are also visiting Lake Agco and will stay there over night, that made me most excited of our Kidapawan trip.

From Kidapawan City proper it took us almost 45 minutes van ride before reaching Lake Agco. It is located at the foot of Mt. Apo with an elevation of 1,200 meters above sea level. The PNOC (Philippine National Oil Company) is operating a geothermal plant near Lake Agco, that is why the road going there is already developed and very accessible to any kind of vehicle.

It was almost 8pm when we arrived at Lake Agco, I began to feel the freezing wind breeze. We headed directly to AGKO MAHOMANOY  MOUNTAIN RESORT, where we took our sumptuous dinner prepared by our host that night Maam Juliet and  Maam Annaliza Bustos Malubay and her husband. By 10 PM it was already freezing cold, I've seen fogs everywhere. A bottle of Emperador brandy was just right for the night.

I woke up at around 6 AM and the fogs were still there, we ate our breakfast and prepared for a close encounter with the hot and boiling - Lake Agco!
It's really boiling. Locals told me that, the water at Lake Agco is hot enough to boil and
cook an egg.
The heat in Lake Agco is said to be from the volcano's vent.
AGKO MAHOMANOY MOUNTAIN RESORT. This is where we stayed while in Lake Agco. There are other resort  around the lake but Mahomanoy I believed is the biggest.
Steaming hot pool at Agko Mahomanoy Mountain Resort.  It is believed that waters at Lake Agco are therapeutic because the heat comes from a volcanic vent.
Another hot pool being filled with water from a hot spring at Mahomanoy.

I'm planning another trip to Lake Agco in Kidapawan City, I hope you can join me. :)
